About Wanderpaws

Traveling with a dog shouldn’t feel complicated and make you anxious. I’m Ksenja, and this is Marlo—my mini dachshund and travel buddy. If you’re planning your first trip or just want the next one to be calmer and more fun, you’re in the right place. Wanderpaws exists to help you feel encouraged and inspired to travel with your dog—and to show them the world out there.

Who we are
We’re based in Norway, just outside Oslo. I loved traveling long before Marlo; when he joined our world, the goal was to keep exploring—just with shorter legs in mind. Not every trip began smoothly. In Vienna, which I assumed would be super pet-friendly, we learned quickly that many central parks don’t allow dogs, our “pet-friendly” hotel wasn’t practical for walks, and classic sights were off-limits. We pivoted: found which parks were dog-friendly, moved to a hotel near green space a little outside the center, and swapped queues for Donauinsel, a river cruise, and long neighborhood wanders. It turned into a great trip—but only after a scramble. This blog exists so you can skip that part.
How we travel
Our style is simple and realistic: small dog, in cabin whenever possible; slow days and walkable neighborhoods; easy access to nature; and choices that are kind to dogs and to the places we visit. We get around by plane (always in cabin), train, car, and sometimes boat—and we share what each mode of transport is really like with a mini dachshund in tow.
What you’ll find on Wanderpaws
You’ll find personal stories and first-hand notes you can actually use. Travel Prep covers the need-to-knows—paperwork timelines, vaccines, in-cabin flying, border checks, packing and gear. Places gathers the cities, nature spots, stays and cafés we genuinely loved—dog-friendly in practice, not just on a booking page. In between are the small lessons that make trips easier: routines that keep a small pup calm, local eating norms, transport quirks, and real budgets so there are fewer surprises.
